    Summary
VICTR (VARIATION IN COMPOUND TRIGGERED ROOT growth response) encodes a TIR-NB-LRR (for Toll-Interleukin1 Receptor-nucleotide binding-Leucine-rich repeat) protein. VICTR is necessary for DFPM-induced root growth arrest and inhibition of abscisic acid-induced stomatal closing (DFPM is [5-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)furan-2-yl]-piperidine-1-ylmethanethione)(PMID:21620700). DFPM-mediated root growth arrest is accession-specific and depends on EDS1 and PAD4; Col-0 has a functional copy of VICTR. Induction of the VICTR gene by DFPM treatment requires functional VICTR (Col). A close homolog to VICTR, named VICTL (At5g46510) lies in tandem with VICTR.
