    Organism
    Arabidopsis thaliana (ecotype: Columbia)
    Lineage
Eukaryota; Viridiplantae; Streptophyta; Embryophyta; Tracheophyta; Spermatophyta; Magnoliopsida; eudicotyledons; Gunneridae; Pentapetalae; rosids; malvids; Brassicales; Brassicaceae; Camelineae; Arabidopsis
    Also known as
    AtCKS; CMP-KDO synthetase; KDSB
    Summary
Encodes a mitochondrial-localized CMP-KDO (3-deoxy-D-manno-octulosonate) synthetase. This is the enzyme activating KDO as a nucleotide sugar prior to its incorporation into rhamnogalacturonan-II. Heterozygous mutants are defective in pollen development and in pollen tube elongation.
