      Title: Arabidopsis EMSY-like (EML) histone readers are necessary for post-fertilization seed development, but prevent fertilization-independent seed formation.
    2. Consistent with histone reader activity, EML1 and EML3 associate with nucleosomes and with Cabbage leaf curl virus chromatin, suggesting a direct impact on pathogenesis. EML1 and EML3 bind peptides containing histone H3 lysine 36 (H3K36), a posttranslational modification usually associated with active gene expression.
