Abl - Abl tyrosine kinase
Enables non-membrane spanning protein tyrosine kinase activity. Involved in several processes, including embryonic morphogenesis; generation of neurons; and regulation of plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization. Located in apical cortex; axon; and cytosol. Is extrinsic component of cytoplasmic side of plasma membrane. Colocalizes with cell-cell junction and muscle tendon junction. Is expressed in several structures, including adult brain; adult brain cell body rind; adult mushroom body; ovary; and presumptive embryonic/larval central nervous system. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in gastrointestinal system cancer (multiple) and leukemia (multiple). Orthologous to human ABL1 (ABL proto-oncogene 1, non-receptor tyrosine kinase) and ABL2 (ABL proto-oncogene 2, non-receptor tyrosine kinase). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Nov 2024]
