CaMKII - Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II
Enables calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase activity. Involved in several processes, including long-term memory; regulation of filopodium assembly; and regulation of synaptic assembly at neuromuscular junction. Acts upstream of with a positive effect on positive regulation of dopaminergic synaptic transmission. Located in several cellular components, including dendrite; postsynaptic membrane; and presynaptic active zone. Is expressed in several structures, including A1-7 ventral longitudinal muscle cell; adult brain; ganglia; midgut primordium; and synaptic neuropil domain. Used to study heart conduction disease. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in autosomal dominant intellectual developmental disorder; autosomal dominant intellectual developmental disorder 53; autosomal dominant intellectual developmental disorder 54; and autosomal recessive intellectual developmental disorder 63. Orthologous to several human genes including CAMK2D (calcium/calmodulin dependent protein kinase II delta). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Nov 2024]
