Sbf - SET domain binding factor
Enables several functions, including chromatin binding activity; enzyme binding activity; and guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity. Involved in several processes, including positive regulation of autophagosome maturation; positive regulation of transcription elongation by RNA polymerase II; and regulation of Rab protein signal transduction. Located in several cellular components, including cell cortex; polytene chromosome; and recycling endosome. Part of histone acetyltransferase complex; histone methyltransferase complex; and transcription elongation factor complex. Is expressed in adult head. Used to study epilepsy. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 4B2 and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 4B3. Orthologous to human SBF1 (SET binding factor 1) and SBF2 (SET binding factor 2). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Nov 2024]
