AP-2alpha - Adaptor Protein complex 2, alpha subunit
Enables clathrin adaptor activity. Involved in several processes, including endocytosis; follicle cell of egg chamber development; and mitotic cleavage furrow ingression. Located in clathrin-coated pit and plasma membrane. Part of AP-2 adaptor complex. Is expressed in several structures, including embryonic/larval midgut primordium; ganglia; garland cell; presumptive embryonic/larval system; and somatic trunk mesoderm derivative. Orthologous to human AP2A1 (adaptor related protein complex 2 subunit alpha 1) and AP2A2 (adaptor related protein complex 2 subunit alpha 2). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Dec 2024]
