Enables calcium channel activity and identical protein binding activity. Involved in positive regulation of cold-induced thermogenesis. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including intracellular calcium ion homeostasis; response to cold; and thermoception. Located in external side of plasma membrane and membrane raft. Is expressed in dorsal root ganglion; inferior vagus ganglion; lumbar dorsal root ganglion; and vagus ganglion.
