Summary
This locus includes a conserved genomic element that can function as an enhancer. The major subregion can activate a Hsp68 promoter coupled to a LacZ reporter gene in embryonic forebrain, hindbrain, midbrain, cranial nerve, neural tube and limb of transgenic mice. An overlapping subregion was identified as a candidate cis-regulatory module (CRM) in developing mouse thymocytes based on a combination of DNase I hypersensitivity and transcription factor binding. That subregion was validated as an enhancer by high-throughput CapStarr-seq reporter assays showing weak activity in P5424 T cells. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2023]

RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
