To maintain lifelong hematopoiesis, the pool of HSCs is precisely maintained by diverse molecular mechanisms. CCCTC-binding factor (CTCF) is a DNA-binding zinc-finger protein which regulates its target gene expression by organizing higher order chromatin structures.
