Clock mutant cecum response to Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium infection at different circadian times

Analysis of cecum from master circadian regulator Clock mutants infected with S. Typhimurium at two circadian times (10am and 10pm). Clock mutants infected at night exhibited higher inflammation. Results provide insight into the role of the circadian clock in the host immune response to infection.

Mouse Salmonella Study

(Submitter supplied) Salmonella enterica serotype Typhimurium causes an acute inflammatory reaction in the cecum of streptomycin pre-treated mice. We determined global changes in gene expression elicited by serotype Typhimurium in the cecal mucosa. The gene expression profile was dominated by T cell derived cytokines and genes whose expression is known to be induced by these cytokines. Analysis of bacterial and macrophage transcripts in ISRE-positive and negative infected macrophages
