Transcription profile of adipose-resident macrophages and mesenchymal stem cells.

(Submitter supplied) It is commonly-recognized that hematopoietic cells residing in adipose tissue (AT) exhibit a broad range of physiological functions for maintenance of homeostasis and remodeling and repair of tissues aside from the involvement in inflammation. We evaluated the cell composition of hematopoietic cells in human non-obese AT and analyzed AT-resident macrophages in detail.

Identification of metabolically distinct adipocyte progenitor cells in human adipose tissues

(Submitter supplied) Adipocyte progenitor cells (APCs) provide the reservoir of regenerative cells to produce new adipocytes, although their identity in humans remains elusive. Using FACS analysis, gene expression profiling and metabolic and proteomic analyses, we identified three APCs subtypes in human white adipose tissues. The APC subtypes are molecularly distinct but possess similar proliferative and adipogenic capacities. more...

Steatosis Drives monocyte-derived Macrophage Accumulation in Human Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Fatty Liver Disease

(Submitter supplied) Background & Aims: Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a common complication of obesity with a hallmark feature of hepatic steatosis. Recent data from animal models of MALFD have demonstrated substantial changes in macrophage composition in the fatty liver. In humans, the relationship between liver macrophage heterogeneity and liver steatosis is less clear. Methods: Liver tissue from 21 participants was collected at time of bariatric surgery and analyzed using flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and H&E microscopy. more...
