Air pollution exposure effect on children and adults: peripheral blood

Analysis of peripheral blood from children and adults living in two regions of the Czech Republic (Teplice and Prachatice) with considerably different levels of air pollutants. Results provide insight into whether children and their adult parents respond differently to air pollution.

Expression data from brain tissue of Rattus norvegicus treated with D-Serine

(Submitter supplied) d-serine is naturally present throughout the human body. It is also used as add-on therapy for treatment-refractory schizophrenia. d-Serine interacts with the strychnine-insensitive glycine binding site of NMDA receptor, and this interaction could lead to potentially toxic activity (i.e., excitotoxicity) in brain tissue. The transcriptomic changes that occur in the brain after d-serine exposure have not been fully explored. more...

D-serine effect on the brain: dose response

Analysis of forebrains of animals treated with up to 500 mg/kg D-serine for 96 hours. D-serine is involved in many physiological processes through its interaction with the glycine binding site of the NMDA receptor. Results provide insight into the impact of D-serine exposure on neuronal functions.

Genomic alterations and gene expression in primary diffuse large B cell lymphomas of immune privileged sites

(Submitter supplied) Primary diffuse large B cell lymphomas of different immune-privileged sites (IP-DLBCL) share many clinical and biological features, such as a relatively poor prognosis, preferential dissemination to other immune-privileged sites and deletion of the HLA region, which suggests that IP-DLBCL represents a separate entity. To further investigate the nature of IP-DLBCL, we investigated site-specific genomic aberrations in 16 testicular, 9 central nervous system (CNS) and 15 nodal DLBCL using array-CGH. more...

Two distinct gene signatures identify malignant Neuroblast and Schwannian stromal cells of Neuroblastic Tumors

(Submitter supplied) Tumor tissue heterogeneity is a well known feature of several solid tumors. Neuroblastic Tumors (NTs) is a group of paediatric cancers with a great tissue heterogeneity. Most of NTs are composed of undifferentiated, poorly differentiated or differentiating neuroblastic (Nb) cells with very few or absent Schwannian stromal (SS) cells: these tumors are grouped as Neuroblastoma (Schwannian stroma-poor). more...

mRNA expression profile in peripheral blood cells of RA patients following treatment with an anti-TNFa mAb, infliximab

(Submitter supplied) Objectives: We monitored the mRNA expression profiles of peripheral blood cells during treatment with a tumor necrosis factor-a inhibitor, infliximab, in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Using a DNA microarray analysis, we demonstrated a unique set of genes, with distinct baseline and post-treatment changes in expression between responders and non-responders to infliximab treatment. Methods: Using a customized low-density cDNA microarray and a reliable data collection system, we monitored the mRNA expression profiles of whole blood cells from 18 RA patients before and after the infusion of infliximab for up to 22 weeks. more...
