Control vs. AngII Infusion

(Submitter supplied) The genetic background of mice used in this study is mainly C57BL/6J with a small contribution from 129/Sv and DBA/2J strains. Male littermates were received continuous administration of AngII for 7 days at 0.9ug/hour. On day 7 of AngII infusion, the blood pressure of infused mice was (mmHg, mean ± SD) 156 ± 1, while the control littermates remained normotensive (106 ± 9). Keywords: other

Gene expression profiling of hypertensive and hypotensive mice

(Submitter supplied) Hypertension is a condition with major cardiovascular and renal complications, affecting nearly a billion patients worldwide. Few validated gene targets are available for pharmacological intervention, so there is a need to identify new biological pathways regulating blood pressure and containing novel targets for treatment. The genetically hypertensive “blood pressure high” (BPH), normotensive “blood pressure normal” (BPN), and hypotensive "blood pressure low" (BPL) inbred mouse strains are an ideal system to study differences in gene expression patterns that may represent such biological pathways. more...

Identification of angiotensin II-responsive genes in the kidney

(Submitter supplied) In order to characterize gene expression networks linked to AT1 angiotensin receptors in the kidney, we carried out genome-wide transcriptional analysis of RNA from kidneys of wild-type (WT) and AT1A receptor-deficient mice (KOs) at baseline and after 2 days of angiotensin II infusion (1 ug/kg/min), using Affymetrix GeneChip Mouse Genome 430 2.0 Arrays. At baseline, 405 genes were differentially expressed (>1.5X) between WT and KO kidneys. more...

Skeletal muscle of glucocorticoid deprived and treated mice by SAGE

(Submitter supplied) Forty male C57BL6 mice 12-15 weeks old fed chow ad libitum. 30 mice underwent adrenalectomy (Adx) and 10 others a sham-Adx. Three or 24 h before tissue sampling, groups of 10 mice received an I.P. injection of cortisol (0.1 mg per mice), while the remaining Adx and intact mice received an I.P. injection of the vehicle (ethanol) 24 h prior to the sacrifice. All mice were killed within a period of a few hours. more...
