Identification of genes differentially expressed during the growth of Bambusa oldhamii

(Submitter supplied) To gain insights into the molecular mechanisms controlling bamboo growth, mRNA differential display was used to clone genes that are differentially expressed in various tissues of shoots at different growth stages, and their expression patterns were further validated by cDNA microarray. A number of genes and signaling pathways are proposed to have significant roles in controlling the elongation of the bamboo culm.

NTU Bambusa oldhamii spotted array

(Submitter supplied) The microarray contained 298 Bambusa oldhamii cDNA clones in triplicate, 9 actin internal controls, and 273 empty spots (7-by-7 probes in each of the 24 blocks). All probes were spotted onto poly-L-lysine-coated slides according to Eisen & Brown (Eisen, M. B., and Brown, P. O. DNA arrays for analysis of gene expression. Methods Enzymol., 303: 179-205, 1999) using an OmniGrid arrayer (GeneMachines, San Carlos, CA).
