Alzheimer disease diagnostic prediction using peripheral BMC gene expression

(Submitter supplied) Using prediction analysis for microarrays (PAM), peripheral blood mononuclear cells (BMC) gene expression proves useful as predictive markers of sporadic AD. We obtained 90% accuracy for correct AD classification by PAM (36 of 40; four NEC classified as AD) using BMC gene expression. Investigating the contribution of these genes to the pathology of AD and their usefulness as prognostic biomarkers holds promise in the prevention of this devastating disease.

GSTM3 single nucleotide polymorphism (rs7483) associated with peripheral BMC expression in Alzheimer disease

(Submitter supplied) Comparisons between the sample groups (normal elderly control (NEC) and Alzheimer disease (AD)) allowed the identification of genes with disease expression patterns associated with the glutathione S-transferase M3 single nucleotide polymorphism rs7483. Alzheimer blood mononuclear cells

Analysis of blood mononuclear cells of sporadic Alzheimer disease (AD) and age- gender-matched normal controls. Results reveal insights into systemic nature of gene dys-regulation in sporadic AD and suggest novel pathways of beta-amyloid deposition.

NIA MGC, Mammalian Genome Collection

(Submitter supplied) The goal of the Mammalian Gene Collection (MGC), a trans-NIH initiative, is to provide full-length open reading frame (FL-ORF) clones for human, mouse, and rat genes. In 2005, the project added the cow cDNAs generated by Genome Canada. Initially, cDNA libraries provided the source of the clones. Recently, alternative methods based on gene-specific amplification have been developed to target the recovery of human and mouse genes absent from the MGC collection. more...
