Genomic comparison in Vibrio parahaemolyticus strains by comparative genomic hybridization.

(Submitter supplied) Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a Gram-negative marine bacterium. A limited population of the organisms causes acute gastroenteritis in humans. Almost all of the clinical V. parahaemolyticus isolates exhibit a beta-type hemolysis on Wagatsuma agar, known as the Kanagawa phenomenon (KP). KP is induced by the thermostable direct hemolysin (TDH) produced by the organism, and has been considered a crucial marker to distinguish pathogenic strains from non-pathogenic ones. more...

Vibrio parahaemolyticus RIMD2210633 5k microarray

(Submitter supplied) PCR products were prepared for all the protein-coding genes on the V. parahaemolyticus RIMD2210633 genome (4,832 genes in total).Principles for the probe design were average 500bp in length and 1 probe for each gene. 4,866 probes were amplified and each probe was spotted onto poly-L-Lysine coated glass slides (SD10011; Matsunami Glass Ind., Osaka Japan) using SPBIO (Hitachi Software Engineering, Tokyo, Japan).
