Mechanical shear effects on flexor tendon cells

(Submitter supplied) Adhesion formation after flexor tendon repair remains a clinical problem. Early postoperative motion after tendon repair has been demonstrated to reduce adhesion formation while increasing tendon strength. It is hypothesized that during mobilization, tendon cells experience mechanical shear forces that alter their biology in a fashion that reduces scar formation but also activates key genes involved in tendon healing. more...

Histopathological stages of disease in Helicobacter-induced mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma.

(Submitter supplied) Long-term colonization of humans with Helicobacter pylori can cause the development of gastric B cell mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma, yet little is known about the sequence of molecular steps that accompany disease progression. We used microarray analysis and laser microdissection to identify gene expression profiles characteristic and predictive of the various histopathological stages in a mouse model of the disease. more...

Role of antigenic drive in pathogenesis of MALT lymphoma

(Submitter supplied) In order to assess the effect that eradication therapy and re-infection have on colonization densities and histopathology of BALB/c mice, 35 mice were divided into four groups (A-D): 12 mice were infected for the duration of the experiment (23 months, primarily infected group B), 8 mice were infected together with group B, but also received a two week triple therapy at 18 months post infection (TT treated group C) and 9 additional mice were infected and treated along with group C and subsequently re-infected one month after the start of triple therapy (re-infected group D). more...
