- In this study we detected polymorphic and de novo retrotransposons within the Simons Simplex Collection to study the role of retrotransposons in Autism Spectrum Disorder. Here, we provide polymorphic Alu, L1, and SVA insertions detected in 4,577 unaffected parental whole-genome sequenced samples of this cohort. These insertions were detected using a novel tool, xTea, which was specifically designed for detecting non-reference retrotransposon insertions with high sensitivity.
