Hox9 activation region
This family constitutes the N termini of the paralogous homeobox proteins HoxA9, HoxB9, HoxC9 and HoxD9. The N terminal region is found to act as a transcription activation region. Btg1 and Btg2 - the B-cell translocation gene products - may function as cofactors for Hoxb9-mediated transcription. The Btg proteins modulate Hoxb9 transcriptional activity by recruiting a multiprotein Ccr4-like complex.
