Figure 5 is a chart showing the reported impacts of medical product shortages. Of the U.S. adults who were impacted by medical product shortages, 49 percent delayed or stopped use of a medical product, 32 percent experienced negative mental health impacts, 30 percent changed to available substitutes, 24 percent experienced negative health impacts, 24 percent rationed or re-used products, 19 percent spent more money or time to find an alternative, 19 percent consulted a medical professional or other sources, and 14 percent delayed or canceled care.
