host descriptionPatient presents with a mechanical fall secondary to impulsive behavior at outside skilled nursing facility. Past medical history is significant for stroke-related dementia, seizure disorder and metastatic lung cancer. Patient course complicated by a lacunar infarct, staphylococcal pneumonia with bacteremia and septic vs. oncologic spinal metastases. Medical management included cefepime, azithromycin and vancomycin, consolidated to daptomycin plus doxycycline on discharge. Discharged in stable condition to long-term acute care center for further management. Duration of bacteremia: 1 day.
