The Drosophila virilis genome was sequenced to 8-fold coverage by Agencourt Bioscience Corporation. The Drosophila virilis whole genome shotgun (WGS) project has the project accession AANI00000000. This version of the project (01) has the accession number AANI01000000, and consists of sequences AANI01000001-AANI01018358.
Multiple assemblies of the D. virilis genome have been made and a list can be found here. These alternate assemblies were combined and reconciled into the official (CAF1) assembly (AANI00000000). The assembly was annotated using several automated gene prediction programs, and the results were combined into a consensus GLEAN set (Drosophila 12 Genomes Consortium 2007).
