The Alpine whitefish radiation is a particularly interesting system in which to study the genetic basis of adaptation and speciation as well as the consequences of whole genome duplication. We carried out ~90x coverage PacBio sequencing (and Illumina sequencing for polishing) from one wild caught C. sp. 'balchen' from Lake Thun, one representative of the Alpine whitefish radiation, and carried out genome assembly using three assemblers , Falcon, Canu and wtdbg2.
