Enhancing the productivity through bacterial metabolism engineering is highly sought after but is impeded by our limited knowledge on the BNC synthesis-related metabolic processes. Here, we discovered a metabolism-dependent BNC synthesis processes, which challenges the traditional perception that genome critically determine the biosynthesis behaviors.
