More...Fusarium oxysporum is a soil-borne plant-pathogenic fungi. Vernicia fordii (tung oil trees), famous for producing the high quality tung oil, has also been suffered F. oxysporum f. sp. fordii, Fof-1. Vernicia montana (woody tung oil trees) exhibited high resistance to Fof-1 although producing lower grade tung oil. To investigate the different response in the roots of V. fordii and V. montana during Fof-1 infection, we found that the pathogen Fof-1 succeeded to enter into the root xylem in V. fordii, however, could not invade into the V. montana root xylem. To identify the possible genes in root xylem involved in the resistance ability in V. montana, we conducted the comparative transcriptomes analysis of V. fordii and V. montanain the four period of Fof-1 infection. The samples of V. montana were labeled as follows, uninfected V. montana (M0m) and V. montana infected with Fof-1 at the early stage (M1m), at the middle stage (M2m) and at the late stage (M3m), respectively. The samples of V. fordii were labeled as below, uninfected V. fordii (F0m), V. fordii infected with Fof-1 at the early stage (F1m), at the middle stage (F2m) and at the late stage (F3m), respectively.
