19-97 2.93e-17

extracellular domain (ECD) found in glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored high density lipoprotein-binding protein 1 (GPI-HBP1) and similar proteins; GPI-HBP1 (also called GPI-anchored HDL-binding protein 1, or high density lipoprotein-binding protein 1) is an endothelial cell transporter for lipoprotein lipase. It mediates the transport of lipoprotein lipase LPL from the basolateral to the apical surface of endothelial cells in capillaries and anchors LPL on the surface of endothelial cells in the lumen of blood capillaries. GPI-HBP1 protects LPL against loss of activity, and against ANGPTL4-mediated unfolding. Thereby, it plays an important role in lipolytic processing of chylomicrons by LPL, triglyceride metabolism and lipid homeostasis. GPI-HBP1 binds chylomicrons and phospholipid particles that contain APOA5. It also binds high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and plays a role in the uptake of lipids from HDL. GPI-HBP1 contains an extracellular domain (ECD), which belongs to Ly-6 antigen/uPA receptor-like (LU) superfamily and exhibits a snake toxin-like fold (also known as three-finger toxin/3FTx fold or three-fingered protein/TFP domain fold).

extracellular domain (ECD) found in lymphocyte antigen 6E (Ly-6E) and similar proteins; Ly-6E (also called retinoic acid-induced gene E protein (RIG-E), or stem cell antigen 2 (SCA-2), or thymic shared antigen 1 (TSA-1)) is a GPI-anchored cell surface protein that regulates T-lymphocytes proliferation, differentiation, and activation. It restricts the entry of human coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2, by interfering with spike protein-mediated membrane fusion. It plays an essential role in placenta formation by acting as the main receptor for syncytin-A (SynA). It may also act as a modulator of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) activity. Ly-6E contains an extracellular domain (ECD) which belongs to Ly-6 antigen/uPA receptor-like (LU) superfamily and exhibits a snake toxin-like fold (also known as three-finger toxin/3FTx fold or three-fingered protein/TFP domain fold).

extracellular domain (ECD) found in the secreted Ly-6/uPAR-related protein 1 (SLURP-1)-like ...
21-93 5.21e-08

extracellular domain (ECD) found in the secreted Ly-6/uPAR-related protein 1 (SLURP-1)-like family; The SLURP-1-like family includes SLURP-1 and Ly6/PLAUR domain-containing protein 2 (LYPD2). SLURP-1 (also called ARS component B, or ARS (component B)-81/S, or anti-neoplastic urinary protein (ANUP)) has an antitumor activity. It was found to be a marker of late differentiation of the skin. It is implicated in maintaining the physiological and structural integrity of the keratinocyte layers of the skin. In vitro SLURP-1 down-regulates keratinocyte proliferation; the function may involve the proposed role as modulator of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) activity. In vitro it inhibits alpha-7-dependent nAChR currents in an allosteric manner. In T cells SLURP-1 may be involved in regulation of intracellular Ca(2+) signaling. It may also have an immunomodulatory function in the cornea. The function may implicate a possible role as a scavenger receptor for PLAU thereby blocking PLAU-dependent functions of PLAUR such as in cell migration and proliferation. LYPD2 is a lymphocyte antigen-6 family protein and shows high sequence similarity with SLURP-1. Members in this family contain an extracellular domain (ECD) that belongs to Ly-6 antigen/uPA receptor-like (LU) superfamily and exhibits a snake toxin-like fold (also known as three-finger toxin/3FTx fold or three-fingered protein/TFP domain fold).

21-93 8.31e-08

three-fingered protein (TFP) fold found in Ly6/uPAR (LU) and snake toxin superfamily; The LU (also known as Ly-6 antigen/uPA receptor)-like extracellular domain (ECD) occurs singly in GPI-linked cell-surface glycoproteins (Ly-6 family, CD59, thymocyte B cell antigen, Sgp-2) or as three-fold repeated domain in urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor. It is a structural domain involved in protein-protein interactions, tolerating an unusual degree of variation and binding with high specificity to a broad spectrum of targets. The snake toxin domain is present in short and long neurotoxins, cytotoxins, and short toxins, and in other miscellaneous venom peptides. The toxin acts by binding to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the postsynaptic membrane of skeletal muscles and preventing the binding of acetylcholine, thereby blocking the excitation of muscles. Both the LU-like ECD and the snake toxin domain belong to three-fingered protein (TFP) fold, which is characterized by containing 70 to 100 amino acids including eight to ten cysteine residues spaced at conserved distances.

extracellular domain (ECD) found in Ciona intestinalis globin CinHb4 and similar proteins; Four distinct globin genes have been identified in the Ciona genome. CinHb4 is encoded by the fourth globin gene. It shows an unusual extension at its N-terminus, which reveals a conserved region with similarity to the extracellular domain (ECD) of the TGF-beta receptor type I/II protein family involved in signal transduction. The functional relevance of these matches is currently unknown. The ECD belongs to Ly-6 antigen/uPA receptor-like (LU) superfamily and exhibits a snake toxin-like fold (also known as three-finger toxin/3FTx fold or three-fingered protein/TFP domain fold).

21-93 3.78e-05

first extracellular domain (ECD) found in urokinase plasminogen activator surface receptor (uPAR) and similar proteins; uPAR (also called U-PAR, or monocyte activation antigen Mo3, or CD87) acts as a receptor for urokinase plasminogen activator. It plays a role in localizing and promoting plasmin formation. It mediates the proteolysis-independent signal transduction activation effects of U-PA. It is subject to negative-feedback regulation by U-PA which cleaves it into an inactive form. uPAR contains three extracellular domains (ECDs) that belong to Ly-6 antigen/uPA receptor-like (LU) superfamily and exhibits a snake toxin-like fold (also known as three-finger toxin/3FTx fold or three-fingered protein/TFP domain fold). This model corresponds to the first ECD.

Snake toxin domain; The snake toxin domain is present in short and long neurotoxins, cytotoxins and short toxins, and in other miscellaneous venom peptides. The toxin acts by binding to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the postsynaptic membrane of skeletal muscles and preventing the binding of acetylcholine, thereby blocking the excitation of muscles. This domain contains 60-75 amino acids that are fixed by 4-5 disulfide bridges and is nearly all beta sheets; it exists as either a monomer or a dimer. The snake toxin domain exhibits a snake toxin-like fold (also known as three-finger toxin/3FTx fold or three-fingered protein/TFP domain fold), which also includes extracellular domain (ECD) found in Ly-6 antigen/uPA receptor-like (LU) superfamily.

extracellular domain (ECD) found in Drosophila melanogaster protein coiled and similar proteins; Coiled (Cold) is coded by the Drosophila cold gene that is expressed in a subset of glial cells. It is a member of the Drosophila Ly6 superfamily of extracellular ligands and could behave as a membrane component of the septate junctions (SJ). Cold is essential for tracheal morphogenesis and the organization of the insect SJ in a cell autonomous way. It is also required for organization of the blood-brain-barrier in the Drosophila nervous system. Coiled contains an extracellular domain (ECD), which belongs to Ly-6 antigen/uPA receptor-like (LU) superfamily and exhibits a snake toxin-like fold (also known as three-finger toxin/3FTx fold or three-fingered protein/TFP domain fold).

It acts by binding to the C8 and/or C9 complements of the assembling MAC, thereby preventing incorporation of the multiple copies of C9 required for complete formation of the osmolytic pore. This inhibitor appears to be species-specific. CD59 is also involved in signal transduction for T-cell activation complexed to a protein tyrosine kinase. CD59 contains an extracellular domain (ECD) which belongs to Ly-6 antigen/uPA receptor-like (LU) superfamily and exhibits a snake toxin-like fold (also known as three-finger toxin/3FTx fold or three-fingered protein/TFP domain fold).

22-95 7.03e-03

extracellular domain (ECD) found in the bone morphogenetic protein receptor type-2 (BMPR2)-like family; The BMPR2-like family includes BMPR2, activin receptor type-2A (ACTR-IIA), activin receptor type-2B (ACTR-IIB), and anti-Muellerian hormone type-2 receptor (AMHR2). On ligand binding, they form a receptor complex consisting of two type II and two type I transmembrane serine/threonine kinases. Type II receptors phosphorylate and activate type I receptors which autophosphorylate, then bind and activate SMAD transcriptional regulators. BMPR2 binds to BMP7, BMP2, and less efficiently, BMP4. ACTR-IIA is the receptor for activin A, activin B, and inhibin A. It also interacts with type I receptor ACVR1 and bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP7). ACTR-IIB interacts with vacuolar protein sorting 39 (Vps39), dynein light chain Tctex-type 1 (DYNLT1), bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2), and bone morphogenetic protein 3 (BMP3). AMHR2 is the receptor for anti-Muellerian hormone. Members in this family contain an extracellular domain (ECD), which belongs to Ly-6 antigen/uPA receptor-like (LU) superfamily and exhibits a snake toxin-like fold (also known as three-finger toxin/3FTx fold or three-fingered protein/TFP domain fold).
