Poly(hydroxyalcanoate) granule associated protein (phasin); Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are storage polyesters synthesized by various bacteria as intracellular carbon and energy reserve material. PHAs are accumulated as water-insoluble inclusions within the cells. This family consists of the phasins PhaF and PhaI which act as a transcriptional regulator of PHA biosynthesis genes. PhaF has been proposed to repress expression of the phaC1 gene and the phaIF operon.

poly(hydroxyalkanoate) granule-associated protein; This model describes a domain found in some proteins associated with polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) granules in a subset of species that have PHA inclusion granules. Included are two tandem proteins of Pseudomonas oleovorans, PhaI and PhaF, and their homologs in related species. PhaF proteins have a low-complexity C-terminal region with repeats similar to AAAKP.
