It recognizes and specifically binds to the anticodon of the tRNA. Members include valyl-, leucyl-, isoleucyl-, cysteinyl-, arginyl-, and methionyl-tRNA synthethases. This superfamily also includes a domain from MshC, an enzyme in the mycothiol biosynthetic pathway.
